Science and Tech Reporter, Kevin Murnane, Takes Nebo for a Spin
In the Fall of 2016, I received an email asking if I would be interested in test-driving Nebo, MyScript’s handwriting-to-digital-text app. As a freelance writer covering technology and science, I receive hundreds of emails like this every week. Most of them are read and deleted, but Nebo interested me because I rely heavily on handwritten notes.
I gave it some thought and decided to decline the offer. Every ink-to-text app I’d seen wasn’t worth the effort for two reasons: Recognition accuracy was not very good, and it took too much time to correct the errors that were the result. Moreover, Nebo was only certified on Microsoft’s Surface Pro and Apple’s iPad Pro platforms – I owned neither.
